In July 2012 we took a short trip to the KIMBERLEY region of Western Australia. Travelling with Cathy, Dennis,Helen and Peter in a small 21 seater truck/bus we went up the Gibb River Road - a former cattle route that stretches almost 660 kilometres through The Kimberley between Derby and the Kununurra and Wyndham junction of the Great Northern Highway, which we then took to return to Broome (see map below).
Along the way we visited numerous waterfalls, gorges and chasms stopping overnight in camp grounds to pitch our tents and roll out our swags (although Gail and I, Cathy and Dennis took the easy option and had cabins for half the trip)
In this wikispace I have put some photos and comments from the trip - I hope you will enjoy them.
We left Broome and travelled north east up the Gibb River Road to Kununurra, stopping over at Lake Argyle before heading back to Broome down the Great Northern Highway, via the Bunge Bungles and Fitzroy Crossing. The small map below shows where we stopped overnight.
